Shihan Lindsay
Shihan Lindsay Guy is the founder of Guy's Karate School and a highly accomplished martial artist with over 30 years of experience. He holds a 7th Dan Black Belt in Shotokan Karate, 1st Dan Ryukonkai Kobudo and a 2nd Dan Black Belt in Taekwondo. In addition, he is a Level 5 ISKA Referee and International Referee.
Lindsay began his training in the Traditional art of Shotokan Karate-Do in 1983 with Sensei Celso Bauer in Maitland, NSW. He obtained his Shodan (1st Dan Black Belt) in 1990 and his Nidan (2nd Dan Black Belt) in 1992 with Ken Sei Kan under chief instructor Mark Passmore. During this time Lindsay trained under Sensei Kyoshi Yamazaki. After opening his own dojo in Forster, NSW, he then began training with Shigan Taekwondo and obtained his 1st Dan Black Belt in 2007 under the expert tutelage of Master Darren Owens.
Lindsay returned to teaching traditional Shotokan Karate and founded Guy's Karate School. The school established itself at Telarah Public School in 2012 before moving to its own centre at Bradmill Ave in Rutherford in 2017. Early 2024 Guy's Karate School moved once more to a building purchased by Shihan Lindsay on the Hwy in Rutherford.
August 2023 Lindsay was inducted into the Australiasian Martial Arts Hall Of Fame (AMAHOF) and the World Karate Union Hall Of Fame (WKUHOF)
Throughout his career, Lindsay has trained many students to Local, State, National and International championships. He is also a dedicated member of the community, volunteering as a Surf Life Saver since the age of 15 receiving a Life Membership for his services to Newcastle surf Life saving Club. He also held position of Junior Club President for the Maitland Saints Australian Football club from 2014 to 2019, 2024 - 2025 elected as Chairman for the club.

Some of His Achievements
1983 - Commenced training with Ken-Sei-Kan in Maitland with Celso Bauer
1987 - Won North Coast Open (Kumite) in Coffs Harbour
Selected in NSW Karate Union of Australia Kumite Team to compete in Nationals in Adelaide SA, 2nd place in Individual Kumite, 1st place NSW team Kumite
1988- 1st place over 80kg in NSW Federation of Australian Karate-Do Organisation Championships
1990- Selected in the NSW State Karate Team to compete at Nationals in Brisbane QLD.
Toured New Zealand with Tasman Cup team winning team Sparring event, beating NZ 6-0
Obtained 1st Dan Black Belt
1991- Toured Japan with Australian Karate Team to compete in All Japan Hard Contact Tournament, placing 4th in the heavy weight sparring. Also that year selected to compete for Australia (Sydney) in the Tasman Cup team placing 1st in the team Kumite
1991-2006 - During this time operated a Dojo in Forster and Rutherford
2006- 1st in Australian ISKA Championships (contact Sparring)
2007- 2nd Sparring in US Open Karate Championships, Florida USA
1st in NSW Country Championships Tamworth in both Contact and Point Sparring
2008- World Cup Sydney Australia obtained 2nd in point sparring and 3rd in contact Sparring
2013 - Awarded Ïnstructor of the Year” by the International Sport Karate Association
2013 - Inducted into ISKA “Martial Arts Hall of Fame”
2016 - 1st ISKA National No.1 competitor Over 35yrs
2017 - Awarded “Referee of the Year”by the International Sport Karate Association
2019 - 1st ISKA National No.1 Point Sparrng over 35yrs
2021 - Winner Hunter Business Awards "Best Fitness Service"
2022 - Finalist in Australian Business Awards (Martial Arts)
2023 - Winner Australian Small Business Award (Best martial Arts School in Australia)
2023 - Inducted into the Australiasian Martial Arts Hall Of Fame and the World Karate Union Hall Of Fame
2024 - Finalist in Australian Business Awards (Martial Arts)
