TEENS & ADULTS

Karate for Teenagers & Adults | 13+

Senior Karate is Guy’s Karate School's martial arts program for teenagers and adults aged 13 and over.

Whether your goal is fitness, personal development, traditional karate, confidence, discipline, competition or simply learning a new skill, our Senior Karate program provides a structured environment where you can continue developing at your own pace.

You don't need to be an athlete. You don't need to be fit before you start. You simply need to be willing to learn.

Who Is Adult Karate For?

Senior Karate is designed for teenagers and adults aged 13+.

It is suitable for:

  • Teenagers
  • Adults
  • Complete beginners
  • Experienced martial artists
  • People looking to improve fitness
  • Students wanting to learn traditional karate
  • Students interested in competition
  • Adults returning to martial arts after a break

Our classes cater for different experience levels, with students progressing according to their individual ability.

What Will They Learn?

Senior students develop a comprehensive understanding of karate and martial arts.

Training can include:

  • Traditional karate techniques
  • Stances and movement
  • Punches and strikes
  • Kicks
  • Blocks and defensive techniques
  • Kata
  • Kumite and sparring
  • Combinations
  • Partner drills
  • Fitness and conditioning
  • Speed and agility
  • Timing and distance
  • Discipline and control
  • Self-defence principles

Students also develop a deeper understanding of the technical, physical and mental aspects of karate as they progress.

What Happens in a Senior Karate Class?

Senior classes combine technical instruction with physical training and practical application.

Sessions may include warm-ups, technical drills, combinations, kata, partner work, conditioning and controlled sparring.

Training becomes progressively more challenging as students develop.

Our instructors focus on correct technique, control and understanding rather than simply working as hard as possible.

Students are encouraged to challenge themselves while respecting their own limits and training partners.

What Are the Benefits?

Fitness – Build strength, flexibility, endurance, coordination and agility.

Confidence – Develop confidence through learning and overcoming challenges.

Discipline – Learn the value of consistency, commitment and self-control.

Stress Management – Training provides an active way to switch off from everyday pressures.

Mental Focus – Karate requires concentration, awareness and attention to detail.

Self-Defence Skills – Develop practical awareness, movement, distance and control.

Personal Growth – Martial arts provides ongoing opportunities to learn and improve.

Community – Train alongside people who share an interest in martial arts and personal development.

Do They Need Any Experience?

No experience is required.

Beginners are welcome.

You don't need to be fit, flexible or experienced in martial arts before starting.

If you've trained before, we can also help you re-establish your skills and continue progressing.

The important thing is simply being prepared to start.

What Happens After They Join?

Once you join Guy’s Karate School, you begin following our structured training pathway.

Students can work towards belt gradings, develop increasingly advanced karate skills and, for those who choose, explore tournament and sport karate opportunities.

There is no final destination in martial arts. As your knowledge and ability grow, so do the challenges.

Some students train for fitness and personal development. Others pursue competition and advanced technical development.

Your karate journey can become whatever you choose to make it.

Ready to Give It a Try?

You don't have to know everything before you start.

You just have to take the first step.

I wasn’t sure if I would be able to start karate in my late 30’s, but from the beginning Guy’s Karate made me feel welcome. I have greatly enjoyed the senior classes, and I have learned a lot in my first year. The instructors are excellent and generous with their time. I would recommend Guy’s Karate to anyone looking for a high-quality karate school in the Maitland area.

We couldn’t be happier with our choice in karate school for our son Kodi. He has SO much fun and he always looks forward to attending classes. On top of that it truly is a family friendly karate school. Best school in the area in my opinion.

My son was attending a different karate school prior to GKS, one which we weren't happy with. Since coming to GKS he has remained engaged, he participates in every session, gets excited to go and really has fun each time. The senseis want the best from their students. The lessons teach skills to help the students in every day life, not just karate. They are very family oriented and passionate.
