TINY TIGERS

Martial Arts for Toddlers | 18 Months – 3 Years

Tiny Tigers is our specially designed introductory martial arts program for toddlers aged approximately 18 months to 3 years. It is a fun, structured and age-appropriate introduction to movement, listening, coordination and following instructions.

At Guy’s Karate School, we understand that toddlers learn best when they are having fun. Our Tiny Tigers classes are designed to help your child develop important early-life skills while enjoying their first experience with martial arts.

Who Is Tiny Tigers For?

Tiny Tigers is designed for toddlers aged 18 months to 3 years.

It is perfect for young children who are beginning to develop their independence, coordination and ability to follow simple instructions.

Whether your child is naturally energetic, a little shy, constantly on the move or simply ready to try something new, Tiny Tigers provides a supportive environment where they can participate at their own pace.

What Will They Learn?

Tiny Tigers focuses on the foundations children need before progressing into structured martial arts training.

Your child will begin developing:

  • Listening and following instructions
  • Balance and coordination
  • Gross motor skills
  • Body awareness
  • Basic movement patterns
  • Focus and concentration
  • Confidence and independence
  • Sharing space and participating with others
  • Simple discipline and classroom routines

Most importantly, they begin learning that exercise, learning and achievement can be fun.

What Happens in a Tiny Tigers Class?

Our classes are energetic, interactive and age appropriate.

A typical class may include movement games, balance activities, simple martial arts movements, coordination exercises, basic kicking and punching actions, obstacle-style activities and instructor-led games.

Parents may also be involved in helping their child participate.

We keep activities short, engaging and varied because toddlers learn best when they are actively involved.

What Are the Benefits?

Tiny Tigers can help your child develop skills that extend well beyond the karate mat.

Regular training can help develop:

Confidence – Becoming comfortable participating in a group environment.

Coordination – Learning how to control and move their body.

Listening Skills – Learning to listen and respond to simple instructions.

Concentration – Developing the ability to focus on an activity.

Social Skills – Learning to participate alongside other children.

Independence – Encouraging children to try things for themselves.

Physical Development – Building fundamental movement and motor skills.

Do They Need Any Experience?

Absolutely not.

Tiny Tigers is designed specifically for young children who are new to martial arts.

There is no previous karate, martial arts or sporting experience required.

Every child starts at their own level, and our instructors guide them through the program progressively.

What Happens After They Join?

Once your child joins Guy’s Karate School, they become part of our martial arts community.

As they grow and develop, they can progress through our age-appropriate programs, eventually moving into Little Ninja, followed by Little Samurai and our other junior programs.

This gives your child a clear pathway to continue developing their skills as they grow.

I wasn’t sure if I would be able to start karate in my late 30’s, but from the beginning Guy’s Karate made me feel welcome. I have greatly enjoyed the senior classes, and I have learned a lot in my first year. The instructors are excellent and generous with their time. I would recommend Guy’s Karate to anyone looking for a high-quality karate school in the Maitland area.

We couldn’t be happier with our choice in karate school for our son Kodi. He has SO much fun and he always looks forward to attending classes. On top of that it truly is a family friendly karate school. Best school in the area in my opinion.

My son was attending a different karate school prior to GKS, one which we weren't happy with. Since coming to GKS he has remained engaged, he participates in every session, gets excited to go and really has fun each time. The senseis want the best from their students. The lessons teach skills to help the students in every day life, not just karate. They are very family oriented and passionate.
